Welcome Home From CES
We’ve all just arrived home from quite a week in Las Vegas, braving the crowds, hall after hall, at the 2018 CES. Packed into a single week, there was more to see than could ever be seen and more to do than could ever be done (thank you ‘The Lion King’).
We talked with so many incredible companies and learned about some incredible new products and only half of us came home with colds! For anyone who’s frequented CES, this is a known thing… the post-CES sickness. So we made a quick reference guide to help you get over your cold quickly and get on to kicking some butt in 2018.
Top 8 Cold Remedies That Actually Work:
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Drink whatever you can to keep fluids in your body. Whether it’s water, juice, or warm lemon water, it all helps loosen congestion and keeps you from getting dehydrated. You should limit alcohol and coffee which dehydrate you – plus you probably had enough of those at CES.
Combat stuffiness. Try using saline nasal spray to help relieve stuffiness and congestion. Some of the other nose sprays with medicine can clear you up faster but mostly mask symptoms without healing you.
Sore Throat Savior. Try gargling with salt water to relieve a sore or scratchy throat. Sucking on ice chips, using sore throat sprays, and sucking on lozenges help too. These things just help with symptoms and that’s ok.
Rest Up. Sleep and even just resting will help your body heal.
Sip warm liquids. Drinking warm liquids such as tea, warm apple cider, or chicken soup might be soothing and might ease congestion by speeding up the stuffiness to exit your body.
Relieve pain. Try Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Advil (ibuprofen) to help with the headaches and other aches and pains that come along with your cold. Check the labels before you combine with other remedies but these are usually ok.
Vaporizer or Humidifier. A cool mist vaporizer or humidifier will add moisture to the air which can help loosen up congestion.
OTC Cold and Cough Medicines. Some decongestants, antihistamines and pain relievers offer some symptom relief. They won’t shorten your cold’s duration but they’ll help you feel better while it’s here.
Speaking from personal experience, the two team members who came home feeling 100% swear it was thanks to taking Emergen-C and/or daily vitamins throughout the trip. Would this work if you start taking it once you already have the cold? Who knows. If you try it, drop us a line and let us know how it works!
And that’s really all we’ve got to help you. If all else fails, you’ll just have to wait it out while binge-watching Netflix shows. Things could be worse.
